‘Moran Amekh’ is a Christian Meditation Chants in Sanskrit which is composed in polyphony by renowned Indian playback singer and musician Franco Simon. The word ‘Moren Amekh’ in Aramaic means “The Lord Be With You”.

The album contains 8 hymns running into a total of 156 quatrains. They are mostly in adoration, and praise of Jesus Christ, the incarnation of the Almighty, reminiscent of his teachings and counsels known as the Sermon on the Mount. Some are in veneration of the Blessed Virgin Mary, mother of Jesus.

The lyrics in various meters are composed by Dr. K.U. Chacko, Veteran Sanskrit Scholar and former Professor in Nirmala College, Muvattupuzha. He is the author of several books in Sanskrit. Some of them are Yesu Suprabhaatham, Kristhubhujangam, Giri Prabhaashanam and ten odd monographs.

Dr. Chacko’s lyrics are a blend of Indian and Christian devotion; a fusion of the Hindu and Christian dharma, aiming at ‘Moksha’ which is Salvation.

The choral rendering in polyphony creates a harmony of physical and spiritual emotions both in the singers and the listeners. The participants are elevated into a concentrated meditative ambience through this. They feel the aura of the presence of the Creator Omnipotent, and this generates a gradual relief from the physical and mental constraints and the pain experienced for long. Anxieties, tensions, worries and even physiological disorders get unhooked whereby the participants feel fresher, lighter and free from the imaginary clutches, thus experiencing a sort of miraculous solace.

The orchestra behind the choral performance consisted of maestros in various instruments. Ousepachan who is an Indian film composer and violinist who mainly sets scores for Malayalam films plays the western violin. He is a recipient of the National Award, Filmfare Award and Kerala State Film Awards for his numerous film soundtrack albums and background scores. Dr. Bhavya Lakshmi was on the Indian Violin, William Francis on the key-board, Rajesh Cherthala on the flute and other wind instruments, O.K. Gopi on the Shehnai, Paulson K.J on the Sitar and Sandeep Anand on the guitar (acoustic and electric). The choir leader was Amal Antony Augustine and Mithun Jayaraj performed the Vocal Aalap (prolonged voice modulation).

Recording and Live Reflection Capture (LRC) was done by Saji R. Nair of Chethana Sound Studio, Trichur. He is also the project mixing engineer of the album. Three other sound engineers who collaborated in the production are Ganesh Marar (Chethana Sound Studio, Trichur), Praveen Iyyer (Aghora Studio, Trichur), and Bonny Clement (Rhythm Studio, U.K). Greg Forsberg of Mastering Room, U.S.A rendered his services as the mastering Engineer of the Project.

The music album has been produced by an American Company called ‘Seven Flames Records’. Moren Amekh’s production is indebted to the devoted and masterful guidance and patronage given to the project by Rev. Fr. Thomas Chakakalamattom, CMI. Rev. Fr. Davis Pulikkottil, Vicar and Rector of Our Lady of Dolours Basilica, Trichur co-operated in the recording and LRC within the Basilica. Catherine Hankard from U.K did the Bible oration. Sruthi Raj Thilakan has done the Title design.
